What happens when you call
The same sequence every time, whatever the trade and whatever the hour.
- Step 1
We answer
A person, not a recording. We ask what is happening, where you are and whether anyone is at risk, and tell you anything useful to do while you wait.
- Step 2
We tell you the price
The callout figure is confirmed on the phone, before an engineer is dispatched. Nothing is added on arrival.
- Step 3
We dispatch
The nearest available engineer for that trade sets off. You get a realistic arrival time, not an optimistic one.
- Step 4
We make safe
The water is stopped, the circuit isolated, the opening boarded or the door opened. Then we assess whether a full repair is possible there and then.
- Step 5
We follow up
Anything that needs parts or daylight is booked, with a written quote. You are left secure, with a record of what was done.

Full pricing and what is includedWhat counts as an emergency
The test we use is simple: does waiting make it worse, or make it dangerous. Water you cannot stop, electrical faults that involve heat or smell, a property that is open to the street, being locked out, or a roof letting rain in on the electrics all pass that test. A dripping tap, a slow drain or a stiff lock do not, and we will say so on the phone rather than send someone out at night rates for something that could wait until morning.
If you smell gas, leave the property and call the National Gas Emergency line on 0800 111 999 before ringing anyone else. If there is smoke or fire, call 999. We attend afterwards for the repair.
Everything else, ring 07343 065023. Working out whether it is an emergency, and which trade it needs, is our job. If you would like to read more first, our guide to who to call at 2am explains what to do before we arrive.
What we cover
The six emergency services above run around the clock from our Manchester depot. Our priority areas, listed on the areas pages, get a typical response within the hour. Further afield across Greater Manchester and north Cheshire we still attend; we simply give you an honest arrival time.
Ask me anythingOn question 01On question 02On question 03On question 0401Is the line really answered at night, or is it a call centre?
It is answered by our own dispatch team, who know the engineers and the area. They can tell you what to do in the meantime and give you a real arrival time, not a script.
02How quickly will someone arrive?
Typically within sixty minutes in our twelve priority areas. Elsewhere across Greater Manchester and north Cheshire we tell you a realistic time on the phone. If we cannot meet a time we will say so, not promise and miss it.
03Does an out-of-hours callout cost more?
Yes. Evenings, weekends and bank holidays carry a higher rate than standard hours, and the pricing page says so plainly. What does not change is that you are told the figure before anyone is dispatched.
04What if it turns out not to be an emergency?
We will tell you on the phone if we think it can wait, and what the price difference is. The decision is yours. If you would still like someone tonight, we come.
