A locksmith service built around how Manchester homes are secured
Most of the doors we work on fall into three families. The Victorian and Edwardian terraces of Chorlton, Levenshulme and Prestwich still carry timber front doors with a mortice deadlock and a nightlatch, often several decades old. The 1930s semis of Didsbury, Sale and Cheadle have mostly been refitted with uPVC or composite doors running on a multipoint strip. And the apartment blocks of Ancoats, the Northern Quarter and Salford Quays use euro cylinders, fob-controlled communal entrances and fire doors with rules of their own.
Each needs a different approach. Our locksmiths carry stock for all three, so the first visit is usually the only visit. We fit British Standard locks where insurers expect them, we replace euro cylinders that fail the anti-snap test, and we repair multipoint mechanisms rather than condemning the whole door.
Planned work and emergencies from the same team
The emergency locksmith page covers lockouts, snapped keys and break-ins, with a locksmith on the way within 45 minutes across most of Manchester. This page is the calm version. If you have moved house and want the locks changed, have a uPVC door that will not lock, need a door made safe after a burglary or want a proper look at your home security, book a daytime visit and pay daytime rates.
We are not a call centre. The person who answers 07343 065023 knows the locksmiths by name and can tell you who is coming, roughly when, and what it will cost before anyone is dispatched. Rates are set out plainly on our pricing page, including the evening and weekend rates, which are different from daytime and are stated rather than hidden.
