Glass that keeps you trading
A shop with a boarded window loses customers every hour it stays boarded. Our commercial team measures on the day, has toughened or laminated glass manufactured to size, and fits it early morning or after close so the door never shuts for a glazier. When something goes through the window at 3am, the same team boards it within 60 minutes and returns with the glass. Call 07343 065023 or request a quotation.
Where we work
Independent shops and cafes along Burton Road in West Didsbury, Beech Road in Chorlton and Stamford New Road in Altrincham. Bars and restaurants in the Northern Quarter and Ancoats, where the glazing is large, the frontage is often listed, and the fit has to happen between last orders and the morning delivery. Offices in Spinningfields and Salford Quays with curtain walling and internal glass partitions. Schools and nurseries across Trafford and Stockport, where every pane has to be safety glass and work happens in the holidays or at weekends. Estate agents, dental practices, gyms and showrooms across Greater Manchester with large single panes that only a two-person team and the right lifting equipment can handle.
What we fit
Toughened glass where impact resistance matters, laminated where security or containment matters, and both where the insurer asks for it. Glass in doors, side panels and low-level shopfronts has to meet the safety glazing requirements of the building regulations, and manifestation marks on large clear panes are a legal requirement rather than a decoration, so we supply and apply them. We replace glass in aluminium shopfront systems, timber frames and frameless structural glazing, and fit privacy film, solar film and internal partition glass on the same visits. Misted units in an office or a shop are replaced in the same way as at home; see misted and failed units.
After a break-in or a storm
Emergency boarding up secures the premises first, with fitted plywood that satisfies the insurer, and our emergency glazier reglazes on the night where a stock size fits. Our guide to what to do after a break-in sets out the order for a business owner, and a broken window at night covers the first call. We deal directly with loss adjusters, provide the photographs and itemised invoices they need, and, for multi-site businesses, offer a glazing maintenance agreement with a single monthly invoice. Everything else is on the glazing hub.

Ask me anythingQuestion 01 of 05Question 02 of 05Question 03 of 05Question 04 of 05Question 05 of 0501Can you fit outside trading hours?
Yes, and for shopfronts we usually do. Glass is manufactured to size after the survey and fitted early morning, after close or on a Sunday, so the premises never shut for a glazier. For bars and restaurants in the Northern Quarter that means the window between last orders and the morning delivery, and we plan the visit around it. Out-of-hours fitting is priced as such on the quotation, not added afterwards.
02What glass does a shopfront legally need?
Glass in doors, side panels next to doors and any glazing below about 800mm from the floor must be safety glass, meaning toughened or laminated, to satisfy the building regulations. Large clear panes need manifestation marks at two heights so people do not walk into them. Insurers often ask for laminated glass on ground-floor frontages because it holds together when struck. We specify to the regulation and to your policy, and put it in writing.
03Do you work with insurers and loss adjusters?
Routinely. After a break-in or an accident we board within the hour, photograph the damage, and provide a make-safe invoice and a replacement quotation itemised the way loss adjusters expect. Where the adjuster wants to inspect before repairs begin, the boarding is secure enough to trade behind for as long as that takes. Our guide to what to do after a break-in covers the steps for a business owner.
04Can you replace glass in aluminium shopfront systems?
Yes. Most Manchester shopfronts are aluminium systems with pressure plates and gaskets, and we carry the gasket profiles and fixings to reglaze them without disturbing the frame. Timber shopfronts on the older parades in Chorlton and Didsbury and frameless structural glazing in newer premises are handled too, with the right lifting equipment for large panes. Where a frame member is bent in an impact we quote the frame repair alongside the glass.
05Do you offer agreements for businesses with several sites?
Yes. Letting agents, block managers and multi-site retailers put their premises on a glazing maintenance agreement with a priority response, rates fixed in advance for daytime and out-of-hours work, and one monthly invoice. We keep a record of each site's glass specification so a replacement can be ordered from a phone call without a survey. Ask for a proposal through the contact page.
