Many Sale semis have had their consumer unit updated at some point, but a good number still run pre-2015 boards without RCD protection on every circuit, which is one of the most common findings at EICR time across M33. Kitchen extensions and loft conversions, both popular across Sale, often add circuits that need certifying against the existing board's capacity, and it's not unusual for a board that looked fine on the surface to need an upgrade once the extra load is factored in. We test properly and quote what's needed — no shortcuts behind the consumer unit.

A Sale semi's consumer unit is often the deciding factor in whether a kitchen extension or loft conversion goes smoothly — a board with spare capacity and modern RCD protection takes a new circuit easily, while an older pre-2015 board frequently needs upgrading first. We assess this at quote stage rather than partway through the build, and it's one of the most common reasons an EICR doesn't pass first time in this part of M33.
