Chorlton's Victorian terraces around Beech Road and Chorlton Green mix original timber sash windows with uPVC replacements fitted at various points over the last 30 years, so the fix depends entirely on which generation of window a particular house has. Original sashes suffer from worn cords, swollen frames and single glazing that lets in a lot of draught and noise from busy roads like Barlow Moor Road; later uPVC units, now often past their expected seal life, develop the cloudy, misted look of a failed double-glazed unit. Parking restrictions around Beech Road can also affect how quickly we can get a van and ladders close to some of the terraces.
We cover M21 within about 20 minutes of leaving our base. Marcus Oyelaran handles most of our glazing work in Chorlton. For failed units, see misted and failed units; for a wider look at what we cover, the glazing hub. Call 07343 065023 for an emergency.
The bay-fronted terraces along Keppel Road and the streets off Manchester Road commonly still have their original sash bays, often the most visually important feature of the house, and repairing rather than replacing them is usually both cheaper and more in keeping with the property. Where uPVC has already been fitted, we're seeing a consistent run of units from the early 2000s failing now, right on schedule for a sealed unit's expected lifespan. For anything involving a broken pane after an attempted break-in rather than routine wear, see the emergency glazier page for how quickly we can make a property secure.
