Didsbury's Edwardian villas and Victorian terraces around the village and Barlow Moor Road still carry a lot of original timber sash windows, particularly on street-facing elevations within the conservation area, where planning rules limit what can be swapped for uPVC. Later double glazing fitted through the 1990s and 2000s in the same houses is now old enough that failed seals and misted units are a regular call, especially on south-facing rooms that see the most sun.
